Saltness forms part of Whalsay's small community in the Shetlands, reached by ferry from Laxo on the mainland via the A970. The crossing takes about 20 minutes, with several daily sailings connecting islanders to Lerwick and beyond. One fast charger serves local EV needs, whilst the Heritage Centre displays remarkable 5,000-year-old Neolithic finds discovered on the island.
