Salachadh is a small Highland settlement on the shores of Loch Shin in Sutherland, reached via the A838 from Lairg 7km away. The A836 from Lairg provides onward connections to Bonar Bridge and the east coast. Local routes serve nearby communities like Claonel and Gruids through winding glen roads. The name derives from Gaelic "sàlach àite" meaning "dirty place," referring to the peaty burns that flow into Loch Shin.
