Rydal lies between Ambleside and Grasmere on the A591, the Lake District's main north-south route connecting the M6 to Keswick. This tiny village beside Rydal Water serves as an excellent base for fell walking, with over 40 EV charging points nearby for electric vehicle users. The area experiences typical Lakeland weather with frequent showers but benefits from some shelter provided by the surrounding hills. Wordsworth lived at Rydal Mount from 1813 until his death, and the house still contains his original writing desk.
