Rufforth

Rufforth lies 8km west of York along the A59, easily reached via the A1237 ring road from most directions. The village grew around its wartime airfield, now home to Leeds East Airport handling mainly training flights. Most traffic comes from York and nearby villages, though the A64 and A1 connections bring some longer-distance visitors. The Yorkshire Air Museum occupies original RAF hangars with an impressive collection of vintage aircraft.
