Renton lies in West Dunbartonshire between the River Leven and Loch Lomond's southern shores. The A82 provides main access from Glasgow (20 miles) continuing toward the Highlands, whilst the A813 serves local routes to Dumbarton. This former industrial town in the Vale of Leven is notable for its monument to novelist Tobias Smollett and as home to Renton FC, winners of the inaugural Scottish Cup in 1873.
