Rearcross
Ireland
Ireland
Rearcross lies along the R503 in County Tipperary, making it a handy stop between Newport and Dundrum for those crossing between Limerick and Tipperary town. The N24 runs 15 kilometers south for longer journeys. Most come via the R503 from Newport, a 12-kilometer drive through typical Munster farmland with stone walls, or from Tipperary town through Dundrum. The Silvermine Mountains rise to the northwest, and there's decent EV charging coverage across the area. The village name comes from "An Chrois Chúil," the back cross, after a stone cross that once marked the rear boundary of an ancient monastery.
