Rainhill lies between Liverpool and St. Helens, accessible via M62 Junction 7 and the A57. The town sits on elevated ground with typical northwest maritime weather. Most traffic uses the M62 for longer journeys or the A570 to nearby St. Helens. Over 500 EV charging points serve the area. The town famously hosted the 1829 Rainhill Trials where Stephenson's Rocket locomotive triumphed.
