Prenton lies on the Wirral Peninsula between Birkenhead and the peninsula's residential heart. Most drivers use M53 Junction 4, then follow the A552 Woodchurch Road through town. The Mersey tunnels connect quickly to Liverpool, whilst the A551 serves traffic from Chester direction. Tranmere Rovers' Prenton Park stadium has hosted professional football since 1912.
