Polruan
England
England
Polruan clings to the steep eastern shore of the Fowey estuary, a proper Cornish fishing village reached by winding single-track lanes from the B3269. Most visitors actually arrive by the little passenger ferry from Fowey rather than driving round. The village is dominated by its 14th-century blockhouse, which once guarded the estuary entrance alongside its twin fortress in Fowey.
