Polmadie occupies a strategic spot on Glasgow's south side between Govanhill and the Gorbals, easily reached via the M74 or A728 from Rutherglen. The former railway district has transformed into a mixed residential area whilst retaining its industrial character, with the massive rail freight terminal and its towering gantry cranes still dominating the eastern approaches.
