Pollokshaws

united kingdom

Pollokshaws lies on Glasgow's south side along the White Cart Water, about 5km from the city centre. This former textile town joined Glasgow in 1912 but keeps its Victorian character with tenement blocks and leafy streets. The M77 runs just west, connecting southwards to East Kilbride and the Borders, whilst the A77 Pollokshaws Road provides the direct route from central Glasgow through Shawlands. The distinctive 1898 Burgh Hall with its clock tower still chimes every quarter hour.
