Plains lies between Glasgow and Hamilton in South Lanarkshire's flat river valley terrain. Access is via M74 Junction 5, about 20km south of Glasgow on a popular commuter route. The A725 and B7071 provide additional connections, whilst over 150 EV charging points serve the area. The town sits near Bothwell Bridge Lido, one of Scotland's last outdoor swimming pools.
