Pittington is a County Durham village about 8km southeast of Durham city, reached via the A690 and local roads from the city center. The A1(M) and A19 provide main access for longer journeys, whilst local routes connect surrounding villages like High Moorsley within a few kilometers. Once a colliery village, it now sits quietly in rolling countryside with pleasant walking routes. The 12th-century St. Laurence Church incorporates rare Saxon stonework into its Norman structure.
