Pinecrest lies in Aberdeenshire's Deeside, about 30km west of Aberdeen along the A93. The scenic route follows the River Dee through Banchory toward the Cairngorms, whilst the A957 heads north via the Slug Road to Stonehaven. Local roads connect to nearby Inchmarlo and Bridge of Canny. The granite clock tower in the town centre chimes every quarter hour.
