Piercebridge is a County Durham village on the River Tees, reached via the A67 between Darlington and Barnard Castle. The A67 follows the ancient Roman Watling Street route, with Junction 57 off the A1(M) providing the main access. The village retains remarkable Roman bridge foundations still visible in the River Tees where massive stone blocks mark the original crossing point.
