Picket Piece lies in the Test Valley between Andover and Saint Mary Bourne, just off the busy A303 trunk route. Most visitors arrive via this major road, which carries heavy traffic between London and the Southwest. The village offers good access to Hampshire's chalk downland walking routes and sits close to the ancient Harrow Way ridgeway path.
