Patna is a former mining village in East Ayrshire's Doon Valley, reached via the A713 from Ayr or Castle Douglas. The A77 provides the main connection for visitors from Glasgow, roughly 90 minutes south via the M77. The old railway cutting that once carried trains now serves as a village walking path.
