Oxclose forms part of Washington New Town between Sunderland and Newcastle, easily reached via the A1231 Sunderland Highway and nearby A19. Local routes include the A182 to Sunderland centre (1km) and A194(M) to Gateshead, whilst longer journeys use the A1(M) at Junction 64. The area features over 400 EV charging points and retains its original 1970s pedestrian shopping precinct with modernist architecture.
