Othery sits on slightly higher ground within the Somerset Levels, surrounded by the characteristic flat, drained wetlands of this part of southwest England. The village is reached via the A361 from Glastonbury or through Bridgwater from the M5. Most visitors are exploring the local area or conducting business in the farming community that dominates these fertile lowlands. The village's 15th-century church of St. Michael houses one of Somerset's finest medieval wooden rood screens.
