Old Town sits at the crossroads of County Roscommon, where the N61 and N63 meet, making it a handy stop for anyone crossing the midlands. Most folk arrive off the M6 at Athlone, then it's 25 kilometres north on the N61. From Dublin it's about 140 kilometres via the M6, while Galway's only 60 kilometres west on the N63. The town's built around the impressive ruins of Roscommon Castle, a massive 13th-century Norman fortress whose limestone walls still tower over the main street. There's decent EV charging with about 15 fast chargers dotted around town.
