Oaklands lies in Hertfordshire's commuter belt, well-positioned between Welwyn and Knebworth with easy access via the A1000 and A1(M). The area sits in the pleasant Mimram Valley amongst mixed woodland and chalk downland typical of the region. Electric vehicle charging is well-covered with over 200 public fast chargers nearby, whilst London Luton Airport is just 20 kilometres northwest. The ancient Icknield Way still crosses through the area as a public footpath.
