Newtownforbes lies along the N4 between Dublin and Sligo, about 120 kilometres northwest of the capital and 30 kilometres from Longford town. The N4 runs straight through, making it a handy stop for anyone heading to Donegal or Sligo, with the R392 connecting to Granard and local roads linking surrounding villages. You'll find around 20 public fast chargers for electric cars scattered about the area. The big draw here is Center Parcs Longford Forest, which opened in 2019 on 400 acres of woodland, complete with subtropical swimming and forest lodges that completely changed the character of this midlands town.
