Newmarket sits where the Blackwater Valley meets the Mullaghareirk Mountains in north County Cork, accessible via the R576 and R577 regional roads. From Cork city, it's about 50 kilometers through Mallow on the N20, then west on the R576. Limerick drivers can reach it via the N21 to Newcastle West, then south through the countryside. The town hosts Ireland's oldest weekly market every Saturday since 1226, where farmers still gather in the square to sell livestock and produce using traditions nearly eight centuries old.
