Newbridge straddles the River Liffey in County Kildare, 47 kilometers southwest of Dublin via the M7 to Junction 12. The town grew around 19th-century military barracks and remains linked to the Curragh Camp on the vast limestone plain south of town. This flat grassland has trained horses for centuries and hosts the Curragh Racecourse, one of Ireland's top racing venues. Regular trains connect to Dublin Heuston, making it popular with commuters. The Newbridge Silverware factory shop displays costumes worn by Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.
