New Lanark

Scotland
New Lanark lies in a spectacular Clyde valley gorge, 2km south of Lanark via the A73. This UNESCO World Heritage site draws visitors along the M74 corridor from Glasgow and Edinburgh, both about 45-50km away. The single access road winds dramatically down into the wooded valley, past the River Clyde. The village houses the world's oldest working steam-powered cotton mill machinery from the 1780s.
