New Brancepeth lies just west of Durham city along the A691 Consett road. This former pit village sits amid the rolling Durham countryside, easily reached from the A1(M) via Junction 62. The A691 forms the main route through the village, connecting it to Durham in ten minutes and serving daily commuters. The village preserves its original miners' rows - distinctive terraced houses built in orderly lines for colliery families.
