Murrooghtoohy sits along the Wild Atlantic Way in County Galway, where Connemara meets Galway Bay. The N59 connects it to Galway city 30 kilometres northeast, winding through stone walls and bog lands. From Dublin, take the M6 west to Galway, then the N59 southwest. The coastal R336 offers ocean views but takes longer due to its curves. Regional airports at Inisheer and Connemara serve the area, though most international visitors use Dublin or Cork. About 50 EV charging stations serve the region. Local fishing boats still work Galway Bay for brown crab, a local delicacy served in restaurants from April to October.
