Mulranny

united kingdom

united kingdom

Mulranny sits on the narrow strip connecting Achill Island to the mainland, perched between Clew Bay and Blacksod Bay along the Wild Atlantic Way. The village lies on the R319, a straightforward 20-kilometre drive from Westport via the N59, making it a handy stop before crossing onto Achill Island. You can also approach from the north through Belmullet, though that route winds more along the coast. There's decent fast charging coverage for electric cars in the area. The old Victorian railway viaduct just outside the village centre makes for a grand sight, its stone arches still standing proud from the 1890s Westport to Achill line.
