Mountain Ash lies in the Cynon Valley, twenty miles northwest of Cardiff via the A470 and A4059. The A4059 runs through the town center, connecting north to the Brecon Beacons and south toward the M4. Most visitors approach from Cardiff or use the A465 Heads of the Valleys road. The town features the restored Edwardian Coliseum Theatre from 1906.
