Mount Temple is a quiet lakeside village in County Westmeath, about 10 kilometers northeast of Athlone on the shores of Lough Ree. You'll reach it via the R390 from the N61, a handy 15-minute drive from Athlone that follows the western shore. The area is grand for golfers with several courses nearby, including Esker Hills and Glasson. The real draw is the 12th-century church ruins perched on a small peninsula jutting into the lake, giving you clear views across to the Roscommon hills.
