Mortlake occupies a prime Thames-side spot in southwest London, easily reached via the A205 South Circular and A238. Popular routes include quick trips to Kew Gardens and longer journeys connecting Heathrow with central London through quieter southern roads. The village retains its historic character along the riverbank, where the famous Mortlake Tapestry Works once wove elaborate hangings for English royalty from 1619 to 1703.
