Monreith is a small coastal village in Dumfries and Galloway, reached via the A747 from Newton Stewart or through Stranraer on the A75/A747 route. The settlement sits on the Machars peninsula overlooking Luce Bay, with Monreith House being its most famous landmark as the childhood home of "Ring of Bright Water" author Gavin Maxwell.
