Middridge is a County Durham village between Shildon and Newton Aycliffe, easily reached via the A6072 from A1(M) Junction 59. The A167 from Darlington provides the main local route, whilst Newton Aycliffe's amenities lie just four miles east. The village developed around coal mining and retains rows of original early 1900s miners' cottages in characteristic red brick.
