Merkinch forms part of Inverness on the western shore of the Beauly Firth, reached via the A862 from the city centre or directly from the A9. The area developed around its natural harbour and retains a distinct community feel within the Highland capital. Caledonian Thistle FC's ground has been the heart of local football since 1906.
