Melbourn lies along the A10 between Cambridge and Royston, about 10 miles south of Cambridge city centre. The A10 connects directly to the M11, whilst the A505 provides east-west links. The village retains its medieval layout, with many 16th and 17th-century buildings clustered around the original market cross.
