Marwick perches on Orkney's west coast near Birsay, where Atlantic winds meet dramatic clifftops. The A967 provides the main access from Kirkwall (25km) via Finstown and Dounby, or from Stromness (15km) heading north. The area hosts the Marwick Head RSPB reserve, home to thousands of seabirds including one of Scotland's largest mainland gannet colonies nesting on 60-metre sandstone cliffs.
