Marpleridge occupies elevated ground near the Peak District boundary, with the A626 and A6015 providing main access from Stockport and New Mills respectively. Popular routes include the 25km run to Manchester via the A6, plus weekend drives into Derbyshire's hills. The area sits close to the famous Marple Lock Flight, where 16 canal locks climb 214 feet in just over a mile.
