Manesty lies on Derwentwater's western shore in the Lake District, reached via the A66 and B5289 through Grange. The hamlet offers classic fell walking with Catbells rising directly opposite, whilst avoiding Keswick's crowds just 6km away. The narrow lakeside road requires careful driving, particularly when tourist coaches use the passing places. The National Trust car park here serves the hugely popular Catbells summit path.
