Malmsmead lies deep in Exmoor National Park where Somerset meets Devon, reached via the A39 then winding moorland lanes through either Brendon Village or Oare. This tiny hamlet sits beside the East Lyn River, famous as the setting for "Lorna Doone," with the actual stone bridge from Blackmore's novel still spanning the water where Lorna met John Ridd.
