Lynchat is a small Highland settlement on the A86 between Kingussie and Newtonmore in the Spey Valley. Most visitors arrive via the A9 then drive 3km west through Kingussie, with the route serving as a gateway to the Cairngorms and northwest Highlands. The village sits beside the RSPB Insh Marshes nature reserve, one of Scotland's most important wetland habitats.
