Lunning is a small coastal settlement on Shetland's Mainland, reached via the A970 from Lerwick then the B9071 eastward - about 40 minutes' drive through moorland. It sits opposite Whalsay island and serves the local ferry route, with dramatic North Sea views and typical Shetland maritime weather. The old ferry pier retains its original stone steps, worn smooth by generations of waiting passengers.
