Lumsden is a small Aberdeenshire village in the Howe of Alford, reached via the A944 from Aberdeen or A980 from Banchory. Popular with visitors from Aboyne (38km), it sits amid rolling farmland below the Grampians. The village is notable as the birthplace of James Legge, Oxford's first professor of Chinese.
