Lower Upnor

Lower Upnor sits beside the Medway in Kent, reached via Junction 1 of the M2 and the A289 through Rochester. This riverside village commands excellent views across to the Hoo Peninsula. Most visitors arrive from Rochester city centre via the A228 or from London on the M2. The village centres on Upnor Castle, Elizabeth I's 16th-century artillery fort that still overlooks the river with its original Tudor gun emplacements.
