Lower Ratley lies in Hampshire's Test Valley, easily reached via the A3057 from Southampton or A303 from the west. The village clusters with Upper Ratley and several hamlets amongst rolling chalk downs dotted with copses. Local routes serve Southampton commuters whilst longer journeys typically arrive via the M3. Southampton Airport sits just southeast, with planes clearly visible on approach overhead.
