Lowe's Barn is a suburban area just west of Durham city, part of the residential developments that spread across the former coalfield. Access is via the A691 from Durham centre or the A690 from Sunderland, with the A1(M) providing the main long-distance connection. The area sits among rolling County Durham countryside, with over 200 EV charging points nearby. The preserved Pithead Baths building, now housing an auto parts business, recalls the area's mining heritage.
