Long Load lies in Somerset's flat Levels, reached via the A372 from the M5 at Junction 23 or the A303. Most traffic is local from Martock and surrounding villages, with some visitors to nearby RNAS Yeovilton. About 60 EV charging points serve the area. The village gets its name from its distinctive mile-long stretch along a single road.
