Locksbottom lies in outer southeast London between Bromley and Orpington, easily reached via the A21 from central London or Junction 4 of the M25. The A232 and A20 provide alternative routes through suburbia, whilst the B2158 Crofton Road forms the local spine. The area's name derives from Victorian-era lock gates that controlled local waterways, with original structures still visible along Crofton Road.
