Lochmaddy

united kingdom

united kingdom

Lochmaddy is North Uist's main port and administrative hub, reached by ferry from Uig on Skye. The A865 connects it to other Hebridean islands via causeways, whilst local roads serve nearby settlements like Strumore and Blathaisbhal. About 5 public fast EV chargers support island travel. The village name derives from "Loch nam Madadh" - the dog-shaped rocks visible at low tide in its natural harbour.
