Lochaline perches on the remote Morvern Peninsula with stunning views across to Mull. Reach it via the A861 from Fort William then the single-track B8043, or from Oban with a ferry crossing. The village operates one of Scotland's last silica sand mines, producing ultra-pure white sand for optical glass since the 1940s.
