Lisburn

united kingdom

united kingdom

Lisburn sits in the Lagan Valley, 13 kilometres southwest of Belfast, with the River Lagan marking the border between County Antrim and County Down. The M1 motorway gets you there in 20 minutes from Belfast, while the rail station offers frequent services taking about 15 minutes. French Huguenot refugees made Lisburn a global linen centre in the 18th century, and you can learn about this heritage at the Irish Linen Centre. The Lagan towpath provides a grand traffic-free route to Belfast, following the same path where linen barges once carried goods between the cities.
